Clementes were victorious against Vandals 7-5 on Sunday at West Springfield HS.

Clementes got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after David Flores doubled, scoring one run, and Jared Bolden induced Bayo Ramirez to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored.

Vandals tied the game in the top of the second thanks to an error, a sacrifice fly by Felix Perez, and a walk by Jarred Porter.

A hit by a pitch gave Clementes the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the second.

Clementes added one run in the third after Viera grounded out.

Leury Gomez earned the win for Clementes. The starter surrendered four hits and three runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking three. Bolden took the loss for Vandals. The lefty went five innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on three hits, striking out five and walking six. Hector Lopez Reyes threw one inning of zero-run ball for Clementes in relief. The pitcher surrendered one hit, striking out two and walking one.

FloresVince PalmerFrank RamirezSteven RodriguezLuis Vera, and Walter Acosta each collected one hit for Clementes. Rodriguez and Ramirez each drove in two runs for Clementes. Ramirez led Clementes with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Clementes turned one double play in the game.

Clementes will travel to Silver Bullets for their next game on Thursday.
